EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF EFFECT OF HEAT TRANSFER ON THE METHANE HYDRATE FORMATION

Abstract:In order to understand the effects of temperature of gas and coolant, flux of coolant on the formation of methane hydrate. The experimental studies are performed in a 10 L reactor with the initial temperature of water solution at 276.15 K, constant pressure of 6.6±0.2 MPa and 1920 g water solution. The experimental results indicate that the temperature of water solution would increase sharply, the hydrate formation rate would decrease and even stop, if the hydrate formation heat could not be removed in time; at the same time, the temperature of gas also has important influence on the hydrate nucleation and growth, the induction time of hydrate formation decrease and the hydrate growth rate increase with the decreasing of gas temperature. Therefore, the heat transfer has important effect on hydrate formation.
